A Merry Christmas to all our members and supporters, past & present.
Paintings need artists to create them and make the club tick. However friends, family and the viewing public provide support and feedback which are the life blood of most artists. Once again our sincere thanks to each and everyone of you who has helped to make our club what it is today.
Before starting into your mulled wine and mince pies( you haven't started already have you?) have a look at this pastel by J.Nolan, one of our club members:-

It will be held at:-
Boothstown Community Centre,
4 Standfield Drive,
Boothstown,
Manchester,
M28 1NB
The Community centre is just off A572, Simpson Road, which is just off the East Lancs Road. There is ample parking across the road from the centre. See map -Please note the map shows a point 100yds past the Community Centre.
We will be there between 9.30 a.m.and 3 p.m.
Everyone is busy, busy, busy at this time of year. However please try and put some time aside to treat that special person in your life to something unique at a very reasonable price and get double brownie points at the same time.
If you see anyone with a white beard and a red ganzie stuffing himself on the mince pies, with a sleigh in the car park pulled by several strange quadrupeds, he is definitely not one of our artists.
We hope to repeat last month's success at Culcheth. Over a dozen of our club's artists are expected to exhibit with over 200 paintings on show.
If you need to know anything else please do not hesitate to contact us at
leighcommunityartgroup@gmail.com
or phone 07974 543123
Many of our artists are willing to accept commissions at very reasonable rates so if you like someone's style but not the subject, just ask, as we are always happy to help.
Our members pride ourselves on our the warm welcome we extend to visitors and new members.
Looking ahead to 2014, our club is always looking for new members, regardless of ability, who are interested in joining our club. We are particularly interested in beginners and any artists who are willing to contribute towards the development of the club with ideas and energy. Why not make new friends and get out a bit more?
Boothstown is an exciting new venue for us so we look forward to seeing you there and making new friends.

Thank you for your support at our Culcheth show a week ago.
Leigh Community Art Group would like to thank everyone who came out in the appalling weather last Saturday at Culcheth Parish Hall to see and buy our paintings. The venue was very well attended and we hope to see you all next year. 13 artists displayed 226 paintings of which 25 were sold. Many were purchased for Christmas presents so a lot of people are in for a very pleasant surprise on Christmas morning although Santa may have a bit of a problem fitting them into a stocking! Once again our thanks. For more on our club’s events and becoming a member see www.lcag.blogspot.co.uk

Opening Night Of Leigh Community Art Group's Annual Exhibition 2013, A Great Success!
Wednesday 3 July marked the opening of Leigh Community Art Group's "Annual Exhibition and Sale of Paintings 2013" in the Derby Rooms, Leigh Library. 270 works were on display, in a variety of media, by over 20 club members.
Proceedings were opened by Allan Beswick from BBC Radio Manchester. Allan gave a very interesting and humorous insight into the hazards of shopping abroad when lacking in language skills. His anecdote concerned the results of mistakenly buying yeast instead of cheese!
Moving swiftly on,
Allan noted this was his 10th time of opening the event which like all the others was a great success. Over 200 invited guests dragged themselves away from Andy Murray to enjoy the sale of works with a social dimension including complimentary wine and buffet.
32 paintings were sold on the night and these have been replaced. The exhibition runs until Friday 2 August 2013 and admission is free.
The club meets most Mondays in the Leigh Harriers' Lounge, Leigh Sports Village between 18.30 and 20.30. New members are always very welcome. For further details visit the club blog at www.lcag.blogspot.co.uk or phone 07974543123 or 01942 676741.

Only 4 days to go!
It’s only 4 days to go before our Annual Exhibition opens.
Remember it is free admission from 4 July to 2 August 2013. It’s
a great opportunity to buy a great piece of original art at very reasonable
prices. The Derby Rooms, Leigh Library are very easy to get to. There is plenty
of parking around the town and it has a large bus terminal which is a hub for
excellent public transport from Warrington to Bolton and from Wigan Across to
Manchester.
Also, if you are an artist or would like to become one and like
what you see, we welcome new members who want to be part of a very friendly and
sociable club.
We look forward to seeing you all soon.

Forging links with the community.
When LCAG launched online our aim was to reach as many people as possible, particularly those within travelling distance of Leigh Sports Village where we meet every Monday at 18.30 to 20.30.
Currently everyone in the club is very busy preparing everything for the Annual Exhibition 2013. However after 3 July we will go back to our "normal" activities and look forward to meeting new members as our recruitment drive really gets under way.
At the moment links are being forged across the Wigan/Atherleigh area with numerous groups and individuals who have shown interest in our activities and us in theirs. It will be several weeks before everything settles down and runs fairly smoothly.
Our website is under development and progressing steadily. Members have given priority to artworks going into the exhibition but that should change in the coming weeks.
It looks like this blog has been far more successful than we hoped and more so than the website. However they will work in unison as the website is designed to display work more satisfactorily than our Twitter / Facebook accounts and has the bonus of being accessible to all. Twitter and Facebook are for signed in members only but have their own specific uses and reach different audiences.
If you have any comments please email them to leighcommunityartgroup@gmail.com Even if you don't like something, do let us know, as all feedback is appreciated.

With only 7 days to go, all tickets for the opening night of out 2013 Annual Exhibition have now gone. However the work of the club can be viewed Mon - Sat in the Derby Rooms, Turnpike Centre, above Leigh Library. (see map). There may be some days when the Exhibition is not open to the public but these have not yet been given to us, at the time of going to press.
Please remember that access to view the exhibition is free.
Obviously most of our members' work will be on show from next Wednesday but some has been kept back for a number of reasons. These will now be posted at regular intervals.

Only 11 Days to Go!
Yes, it's only 11 days to go to the Grand Opening Night of our Annual Club Exhibition at the Derby Rooms, Leigh Library on 3 July 2013, (See Map). Another chance to see and / or purchase an original work of art by any of over 30 artists working in a variety of media.
Most of the artists will be present and available to discuss any commissions that may be required. This year the exhibition will be introduced by Mr Alan Beswick, the well known celebrity from BBC Radio Manchester who yet again has been kind enough to spare us his time and provide many interesting and amusing insights into the club and art in general. We are very grateful and appreciative of his repeated support for our club and its activities.
Admission to the club is free, although by ticket only on opening night, Wed 3 July 6.30 p.m. There are a few tickets left so please ring 07974543123 for further details or email us at leighcommunityartgroup@gmail.com.
